Personal Projects

Abigail has always been attracted to the look and feeling of black and white film. In her recent series, she creates in-camera double exposures to make fanciful, nature-like portraits, inspired by Harry Callahan. Strongly influenced by the work of Julia Margaret Cameron, her model’s wardrobe echos the Southern gothic area. Abigail’s goal is to to convey a different time period and fantasy in her portraits, and take the viewer to another place. By bringing people closest to her into nature, Abigail’s portraits became a series of self discovery and intimacy with where the world is now. She ends with this quote by Morgan Harper Nichols, “Perhaps the reason you are drawn to flowers is not only for their outer beauty, but because they remind you beautiful things will bloom after the longest seasons of waiting.”
